Your engine's rod bolts are subjected to amazing stresses as they support the primary tension loads caused by each rotation of the crankshaft. With alternating tension loads and cyclic bending of the bolts, fasteners that aren't up to the task can break and cause catastrophic engine failure. That is why it is very important to install high quality fasteners that are able to exert a clamping force greater than the load imposed upon the joint. These Wave-Loc High Performance connecting rod bolts are manufactured from a premium grade 8740 alloy chrome moly steel that has been heat-treated to provide a tensile strength in the 200,000 psi range. What makes these bolts truly special is the exclusive Wave-Loc technology where forged waves, not common cut knurls, are used. The bolts still fit snugly, but without the sharp edges and enormous "stress risers" that promote failure in knurled bolts.
