The SM58 dynamic capsule uses a cardioid polar pattern to keep the focus on the performer’s voice while reducing feedback and ambient noise. Inside the transmitter, 24-bit 48 kHz digital conversion preserves every nuance, and AES 256-bit encryption can be activated when privacy is essential. Three selectable RF output levels—0.25, 10, or 20 mW—let you tailor the signal to the venue and local spectrum conditions. With a clear line of sight, the microphone can transmit up to 330 feet to a ULX-D receiver, giving performers plenty of room to work the crowd.

The housing is made from aluminum, so it feels light in the hand yet stands up to nightly use. A backlit LCD shows frequency, battery life, and audio meters, and an infrared sync button pairs the transmitter with a receiver in seconds. Two standard AA batteries power the microphone for as long as 11 hours, or you can install the optional SB900A lithium-ion pack for more run time and convenient recharging. Because the capsule is interchangeable, you can swap in other Shure heads to match different vocal styles or applications.
